AEGIROESSA

AEGIROESSA (Αἰγιρόεσσα), a city which Herodotus (Hdt. 1.149) enumerates among the 11 cities of Aeolis; but nothing is known of it. Forbiger conjectures that the historian may mean Aegeirus (Αἴγειρος), in the island of Lesbos.
