BEGUES Allier, France.
On a plateau overlooking the valley of the Sioule is a Late Bronze Age oppidum, as yet not completely explored. Fragments of imported Greek bowls of the 5th c. B.C. have been found, and plowing has revealed amphorae and traces of dwellings.
Recent excavation uncovered a cellar dating from the end of the 1st c. A.D., and proved that this was the site of a pottery. Evidence of activity from the beginning of the 1st c. A.D. is provided by a goblet mold, an imitation of Aco Ware, while a potter's kiln from the middle of the 2d c. has also been excavated.
