Conliege

CONLIEGE Jura, France.

Site, the ancient name of which is unknown, where several Iron Age tumuli in the place called La Croix des Monceaux have been partially excavated. One of the tumuli contained, along with two fibulas of native manufacture with false cord and small rings, two bronze objects of Etruscan origin: a ladle and an amphora the handles of which are decorated at the top with horse protomes, like the Hamburg amphora, and at the base with Sirens. These objects indicate commercial relations between the Mediterranean and this region of the Jura, as do the finds made at Château-sur-Salins and Montmorot.
