Eubūlus
(Εὔβουλος). (1) A formidable opponent of Demosthenes at Athens.
(2) A comic poet of Athens, born in the deme of Atarnea. He exhibited about B.C. 375. Eubulus stood on the debatable ground between the Old and Middle Comedy; and to judge from the fragments in Athenaeus, who quotes more than fifty of his comedies by name, he must have written plays of both sorts. He composed, in all, 104 comedies. The remains will be found in Meineke's Fragmenta Com. Graec. i. pp. 355- 367 and iii. pp. 203-272.
