Pagyritae

PAGYRI´TAE (Παγυρῖται, Ptol. 3.5.22), a people of European Sarmatia, whose position cannot be made out. Schafarik (Slav. Alt. vol. 1. p. 211) connects the termination of their name with the word gura,which the Poles and other Busso-Slavonian stocks use for gora,mountain.
