- The son of Pelops, brother of Atreus and Thyestes, and the father of Agamemnon and Menelaus, who were brought up by his brother Atreus (whence they are called Atridae), Serv. Verg. A. 1, 458; acc. to others, the son of Atreus, Hyg. Fab. 86 and 97.—Hence,

Thyestes, Vater des Agamemnon und Menelaus, die er seinem Bruder Atreus empfahl, der sie erzog, weshalb sie Atridae heißen, Serv. Verg. Aen. 1, 458. Andere machen ihn zum Sohne, den Agamemnon u.
