Saint-Clair-du-Rhone

SAINT-CLAIR-DU-RHÔNE Isère, France.

In Gallia Narbonensis. On the left bank of the Rhône was a Gallo-Roman vicus covering several ha. In the area known as Clarasson a quantity of tiles were unearthed and, at least 100 m from the site, enormous clay pits, suggesting that this was the site of the Clarianus workshops, which flooded the W Empire with their products. There is also a villa with mosaics and floors of opus-signinum of the Glanum type.
