Tarsia
TARSIA
TA´RSIA (Ταρσίη, Arrian, Ind. 100.37), a promontory on the coast of Carmania, visited by the fleet of Nearchus. The conjecture of Vincent (Voyage of Nearchus, 1. p. 362) that it is represented by the present Rás-al-Djerd appears well founded. It is perhaps the same as the Themisteas Promontorium of Pliny (Plin. Nat. 6.25) as suggested by Müller (Geog. Graec. 1. p. 360.)
