Javea
JÁVEA Alicante, Spain.
About 5 km SE of Denia, sometimes arbitrarily identified with ancient Alonai. In the parish of La Lluca was found a treasure consisting of a diadem, a fibula, and chains, all of gold, and a silver bracelet (4th c. B.C.). From other spots have come amphorae, Punic coins, and Roman objects, notably a marble relief of a horseman preceded by a man wearing a toga and followed by a soldier with shield and spear (Aracil Collection, Javea). On Punta del Arenal the remains of a fishery have yielded architectural fragments and ceramic material.
