Wooden staging or platforms used as seating in early Greek theaters.

Description: From the Greek meaning the planks of the deck, and more generally, a platform or stage. In the earlier history of the Greek theater building, the seats provided for the spectators were only temporary erections and consisted of wooden benches rising in tiers and resting on wooden supports. It was not until later that the simple constructions gave way to permanent masonry structures.
