Σάμον sweep it clear of men, Hdt. 3.149; so [ὡς] συνάψαντες . . τὰς χεῖρας σαγηνεύσαιεν πᾶσαν τὴν Ἐρετρικὴν οἱ στρατιῶται τοῦ Δάτιδος Pl. Lg. 698d, cf. App. Mith. 67, Philostr. VA 1.23.

σαγηνεύω, eine Menge Fische mit dem großen Fangnetze, σαγήνη einfangen ; das Wild mit Stellnetzen, Garnen fangen, Luc. D.D. 15.3, Tim. 25 ; übertr. von Menschen, sie wie wilde Tiere zusammentreiben, um sie zu fangen, Her. 3.149, 6.31, der das Wort in diesem Sinne aber nur von den Persern braucht, wie auch Plat. Legg. III.698 d : ὡς συνάψαντες τὰς χεῖρας σαγηνεύσαιεν πᾶσαν τὴν Ἐρετρικὴν οἱ στρατιῶται τοῦ Δάτιδος ; vgl. Polem. 2.56 ; – σαγηνευθεὶς ὑπʼ ἔρωτι, Ep.adesp. 32 (XII.52).
