Breccia

Breccia

A type of stone composed of angular fragments that have been naturally cemented in a clay or sand matrix. Often confused with conglomerate which is of similar composition but differing in that the inclusions in conglomerate are rounded. Like conglomerate, the use of breccia was largely limited to foundations since it is incapable of taking a fine surface finish.
