Chrysaoreus

(Χρυσαορεύς, “Of the Golden Sword”). A surname of Zeus, from his temple at Stratonicé in Caria. There was a political union of certain Carian States, which held its meetings here, under the name of Chrysaorium. These States had votes in proportion to the number of towns they possessed.
