Eugenius

(Εὐγέναος). (1) A general who opposed Diocletian in A.D. 290, but was slain the very same day at the gates of Antioch, while attempting to make himself master of that city.

(2) A usurper in the reign of Theodosius the Great, of Gallic extraction, A.D. 392. He was defeated, taken prisoner, and put to death, after having held power for two years (Zosim. iv. 54 foll.).
