ἀμφιπένομαι, Ep. only pres. and impf.,

• = πένομαι ἀμφί τινα, to be busied about, take charge of, c. acc. pers., οἵ μευ πατέρʼ ἀμφεπένοντο Od. 15.467; of people tending a wounded man, Il. 4.220, 16.28, Od. 19.455: c. acc. rei, δῶρα Il. 19.278; τάφον, στόλον, δόρπον, A.R. 2.925, 1199, 4.883; ταῦρον Id. 3.271.

ἀμφιπένομαι, um etwas beschäftigt sein, Hom. z.B. πατέρʼ ἀμφεπένοντο Od. 15.467, τοὺς ἰητροὶ ἀμφιπένονται Il. 16.28, δῶρα 19.278 ; im schlimmen Sinne, über einen herfallen, κύνες 23.184, ἰχθύες 21.203 ; – auch sp.D., wie Ap.Rh. 2.27.

In sinister sense: Ἀστεροπαῖον ἐγχέλυες ἀμφεπένοντο (made a meal of him) Il. 21.203. Cf. Il. 23.184.

ἀμφιπένομαι , only pres. and ipf.: work about, attend (to), tend; of persons, esp. the sick or wounded, sometimes of things, Il. 19.278; ironically, τὸν ἴχθυες ἀμφεπένοντο, ‘were at work around him,’ Il. 21.203, Il. 23.184.
