Abydēnus
(Ἀβυδηνός). A pupil of Berosus, who flourished B.C. 268. He wrote in Greek an historical account of the Chaldeans, Babylonians, and Assyrians, some fragments of which have been preserved to us by Eusebius, Cyril, and Syncellus. An important fragment, which clears up some difficulties in Assyrian history, has been discovered in the Armenian translation of the Chronicon of Eusebius. See the edition of his fragments by Richter (Leipzig, 1825).
