Blaen-cwm-Bach
BLAEN-CWM-BACH Glamorgan, Wales.
Large Roman marching camp on a moorland ridge at SS796987, 4.8 km NE of Neath. The site lies on the NE spur of Cefn Morfydd Mountain at a height of nearly 240 m. Elongated in shape (894 x 291 m; 25 ha), it is one of the largest marching camps known in Wales. Its position on the SE slope of the hill gives protection from the prevailing wind. One entrance of the titulum type survives. The camp could have held more than a legion on campaign, but the historical context is not known.
