Centauromachy

A legendary battle between centaurs and humans (Lapiths) and/or heroes, such as Herakles, Peleus, Pirithous, and Theseus. The centauromachy is a common theme in Athenian art, as on the South Metopes of the Parthenon, and the West Pediments of the Temple of Zeus at Olympia.
