μυχθ-ίζω, (μύζω A)

• make a noise by closing the mouth and forcing the breath through the nostrils, snort, esp. from passion, A. Fr. 461.

μυχθίζω, bei geschlossenen Lippen einen Ton von sich geben, indem man den Atem durch die Nase ausstößt, schnauben, Ausdruck der Angst, des Unmuts, Zorns, Spottes, Hesych. u. Suid. erkl. μυκτηρίζω, χλευάζω ; so σιμὰ σεσηρὼς μυχθίζεις, Mel. 52 (V.179), spotten, höhnen, wie χείλεσι μυχθίζουσα Theocr. 20.13, du verziehest die Lippen zum Spott (vgl. μυλλαίνω); bei Pol. 15.26 mit διαψιθυρίζοντες ἐξελήρησαν verbunden.
