• strew, sprinkle, λεύκʼ ἄλφιτα πολλὰ πάλυνον (i.e. sprinkled in water, expld. by Sch. ἔμασσον, ἔφυρον) Il. 18.560; ἐπὶ δʼ ἄλφιτα λευκὰ παλύνειν Od. 10.520, cf. 11.28, etc.; τι ἐπί τινι S. Ant. 247.
• • II bestrew, besprinkle, with dat. of the thing sprinkled, παλύνας ἀλφίτου ἀκτῇ Od. 14.429:—Pass., ἁ σῦριγξ εὐρῶτι παλύνεται Theoc. 4.28.
