ἐπεῖπον

ἐπεῖπον, aor. 2, inf. ἐπειπεῖν, pf. ἐπείρηκα Plu. Stoic.rep. 2.1054f: pres. ἐπιλέγω (q. v.):—

• say besides or afterwards, Hdt. 1.123, Th. 1.67, Aeschin. 2.157, etc.
• • • 2 ψόγον ἐ. τινί say it of one, A. Supp. 972 (anap.), cf. Luc. Hist.Conscr. 26; σκωπτικόν τι εἴς τινα Id. Dem.Enc. 33.
    • 3 quote as apposite, τὰ ἐξ Ἰλιάδος ἐκεῖνα Ael. VH 4.18; ἐ. τὸ κοινὸν ἀρχὴ δέ τοι ἥμισυ παντός Luc. Somn. 3; cf. ἐπιλέγω.
    • 4 utter, pronounce a spell, ἐ. ἐπῳδήν Id. Philops. 35.
    • 5 make a speech at, τάφῳ Polem. Cyn. 2.
