- clothing, raiment, dub.l. in Arist. Rh. 1386a32, cf. Poll. 10.51: pl., Ath. 1.18e, Act.Ap. 1.10: dat. pl., ἐσθήσεσι Ph. 2.158, Str. 3.3.7, v.l. in Ev.Luc. 24.4.
ἔσθησις, εως (ἡ) action de se vêtir, d’où vêtement, au plur. Ath. 18e ; NT. Luc. 24, 4.

1) die Kleidung, vom Schol. Soph. El. 268 als p. erwähnt u. von VLL angeführt, findet sich bei Strab. 3.3.7 ἐν ἀνθιναῖς ἐσθήσεσι u. DS. 4.4, wie Ath. I.18e, u. im NT, bes. als v.l. für ἐσθής.
2) (ἔσθω), das Essen, Ctesias ?
