Combretovium
COMBRETOVIUM Suffolk, England.
Mentioned in Ant.It. 480.2 and as Convetoni in the Peutinger Table. It is probably to be identified with the settlement at Baylham House, 2.4 km SW of Coddenham, at the crossing of the Gipping river and the intersection of two Roman roads. Much Roman material has been found (1st-4th c.), but the limits of the settlement have not been determined. A difficulty is presented by the name, which should mean confluence, since no tributary joins the Gipping here.
