homoioi

(ὅμοιοι, “peers”). A name given to the Spartiatae (q.v.) in allusion to their having equal political rights with one another (Xen. Hell. iii. 3. 5) as opposed to the ὑπομείονες, whose position was in some respects subordinate. See Sparta.
