Il. 2.774, 23.826; in μέγαν περιηγέα πέτρον, . . σόλον Ἄρεος, A.R. 3.1366, σόλος seems = δίσκος, cf. Nic. Th. 905 (et Sch.), Q.S. 4.436.

σόλος, ὁ, eine eiserne, gegossene Wurfscheibe, mit der man wie mit dem δίσκος spielte, Il. 23.826, 839, 844 ; bei Ap.Rh. 3.1364 ein runder Stein ; nach Einigen war δίσκος eine flache, runde Scheibe von Stein, σόλος eine Kugel von Eisen. – Auch = μύδρος, eine Eisenmasse, s. σολοιτύπος.
