To carry the hands all round or over (the surface of), wipe all round or over: τραπέζας Od. 20.152.

ἀμφιμαίομαι , only aor. imp. ἀμφιμάσασθε: seek about with the hands, hence wipe off all over, σπόγγοισι, Od. 20.152†.
