ἐπιδῑν-έω,

• whirl for the throw, swing round before throwing, ῥῖψʼ ἐπιδινήσας Il. 3.378, cf. Od. 9.538, etc.:—Med., turn over in oneʼs mind, resolve, ἐμοὶ τόδε θυμὸς πόλλʼ ἐπιδινεῖται 20.218:—Pass., wheel about, as birds in the air, 2.151; Σιληνοὶ . . ὄθμασι δινήθησαν ἔπι Nic. Al. 33; so ἐπιδινεῖν αὑτούς, of drones, Arist. HA 624a24.

ἐπιδινέω, [ῑ], im Kreise herumdrehen, zum Wurf umschwingen ; τὴν μὲν ῥῖψʼ ἐπιδινήσας Il. 3.378 ; Od. 9.538 ; κηφῆνες ἑαυτοὺς ἐπιδινοῦντες Arist. H.A. 9.40, wie im pass., sich im Kreise herumdrehen, von Vögeln, ἐπιδινηθήτην Od. 2.151.
Med. übertr., ἐμοὶ τόδε θυμὸς ἐνὶ στήθεσσι φίλοισι πόλλʼ ἐπιδινεῖται, wie volvere animo, mein Geist überlegt es von allen Seiten, Od. 20.218.
