περιστίζω,

• prick or dot all round, περιέστιζε [τοῖσι μαζοῖσι] τὸ τεῖχος she stuck the wall all round with the breasts, Hdt. 4.202; περιστίξαντες (v.l. περιστήσαντες, πέριξ στήσαντες Dobree) κατὰ τὰ ἀγγήϊα τοὺς τυφλούς having set them at equal distances round . ., ib. 2 (expld. by Hsch. ἀπὸ τοῦ στίχειν).

περιστίζω, (στίζω), rings herum stechen, bunt machen, übh. im Kreise um Etwas herumstellen, περιστίξαντες κατὰ τὰ ἀγγήϊα τοὺς τυφλούς, Her. 4.2 ; auch τῶν γυναικῶν τοὺς μαζοὺς ἀποταμοῦσα περιέστιξε τούτοις τὸ τεῖχος, sie umsteckte die Mauer rings damit, 4.202, welche Formen auch von περιστίχω, = περιστιχίζω, abgeleitet werden können.
