[φυγ-jα, φυγ-, φεύγω.]
Flight, rout, panic: φύζα, φόβου ἑταίρη Il. 9.2 (the two words difficult to distinguish. Perh. in φύζα there is more of the notion of terror). Cf. Il. 15.62, 366, Il. 17.381: ἐν φύζαν ἐμοῖς ἑτάροισι βάλεν Od. 14.269 = Od. 17.438.
An instance or occurrence of this: φύζαν Ἀχαιῶν δερκομένῳ Il. 14.140.
φύζα (root φυγ, φυγή): panic (flight).
