- able to make a noise, of animals, opp. both to τὰ ἄφωνα and to τὰ φωνήεντα, Arist. HA 488a31; τὸ ψ. a thing capable of producing sound, opp. τὸ ὁρατόν, Id. de An. 423b5, cf. 420a3.
ψοφητικός, ή, όν, qui émet un son, qui crie, gronde, etc. en parl. d’animaux (p. opp. aux ζῷα ἄφωνα ou φονήεντα) Arstt. H.A. 1, 1, 29 ; en gén. en parl. de choses, Arstt. An. 2, 11, 8, etc.
