Abrotonum

ABRO´TONUM(Ἀβρότονον), a Phoenician city on the coast of N. Africa, in the district of Tripolitana, between the Syrtes, usually identified with SABRATAthough Pliny makes them different places. (Scylax, p. 47; Strab. p. 835; Steph. B. s. v.;Plin. Nat. 5.4.)

(Ἀβρότονον). An African coast-town lying between the Syrtes. It was founded by the Phoenicians, and subsequently became a Roman colony. It was also called Neapŏlis; and with Oea and Leptis Magna formed the so-called African Tripolis (Pliny H. N. v. 4).
