Étym. épq. p. ἄκεστος, de ἀ priv. et κεντέω.
ἤκεστος, p. = ἄκεστος, ungestachelt, βοῦς ἐνὶ νηῷ ἤνις ἠκέστας ἱερευσέμεν, Il. 6.94, 275, 309, Rinder, die den Stachelstab noch nicht gefühlt, noch nicht gezogen haben, also noch ungebändigte, junge Rinder ; die Alten erkl. ἀκέντητος, ἀδάμαστος.
ἤκεστος
-η
[doubtfully explained as fr. ἠ- = ἀ-1 + -κεστος. See κεστός.]
Thus, untouched by the goad: βοῦς ἠκέστας Il. 6.94 = 275, 309.
ἤκεστος (κεντέω): ungoaded, hence untamed, Il. 6.94. (Il.)
