ἐξορίζω

ἐξορίζω (A), (ὅρος) (3 sg. aor. subj. ἐξορύξη [from Ἐξορϝίξ-] Inscr.Cypr. 135.11 H.):—

• send beyond the frontier, banish, E. Heracl. 257, Pl. Lg. 874a, etc.; γᾶθέν τινα E. Tr. 1106 (lyr.); τὸ σῶμά τινος ἐ. (cf. ἐξόριστος) Plu. Phoc. 37:—Pass., ἐξορισθῆναι καὶ ἀποθανόντα, μηδὲ ἐν τῇ πατρίδι ταφῆναι Hyp. Lyc. 20.

    • 3 banish, get rid of, ἀγριότητα Pl. Smp. 197d; αἰσχρολογίαν ἐκ τῆς πόλεως Arist. Pol. 1336b5; τοὺς ἀνιάτους Id. EN 1180a10: c. gen., τι τῆς ἀκοῆς Jul. Or. 6.186b.
  • II c. acc. loci only, ἄλλην ἀπʼ ἄλλης ἐ. πόλιν pass from one to another, E. Heracl. 16.
  • III Pass., come forth from, τινός Id. Hipp. 1380 (lyr.).

ἐξορίζω (B), (ὀρός)

ἐξορίζω, über die Grenzen hinausbringen, verbannen ; γᾶθέν τινα Eur. Troad. 1106 ; Heracl. 257 ; Dem. 25.95 ; Arist. Eth. 10.9 u. Sp. Ueberh. entfernen, ἀγριότητα Plat. Symp. 197d, wie Dem. 26.26 ; ἀσέβειαν Posid. Ath. VI.234c. – Im med. ἐξορίζεσθαί τινος, ausgehen von Einem, Eur. Hippol. 1381 ; aber DS. 13.111 = in der Verbannung sein.
