ἐπημοιβός, όν, late ή, όν Opp. H. 5.135:—

• crossing, ὀχῆες ἐ. (unless = shifting to and fro) Il. 12.456; τελαμῶνες ἐ. cross-belts, Opp. C. 1.98.

ἐπημοιβός, abwechselnd ; ὀχῆες, zwei Riegel, die in entgegengesetzter Richtung über oder in einander geschoben werden, Il. 12.456 ; χιτῶνες, Kleider zum Wechseln ; sp.D., wie Opp. C. 1.98 Nic. Th. 365 ; auch im fem., ἐπημοιβαῖς προβολῇσιν, wenn die Lesart richtig ist, Opp. H. 5.135.

    Of a garment, kept for a change ( = ἀμοιβάς): χιτῶνες Od. 14.513.

    Of ὀχῆες, app., crossing each other(cf. ἐπαμοιβαδίς) Il. 12.456. (The κληΐς would secure the ὀχῆες to the gate at their point of intersection, and so make of the whole a solid structure without separate play in the parts.)

ἐπημοιβός (ἀμείβω): serving for a change; χιτῶνες, Od. 14.513; ὀχῆες, cross- bars, shutting over one another in opposite directions. (See cut No. 29).
