κατισχν-αίνω,

• cause to pine or waste away, A. Eu. 138:—Pass., ὑδροποτῶν καὶ κατισχναινόμενος Pl. R. 561c, cf. J. AJ 7.8.1:—fut. Med. inf. κατισχνᾰνεῖσθαι A. Pr. 271.
• • II reduce a swelling, Hp. Prog. 23; αἱ Μοῦσαι τὸν ἔρωτα κ. Call. Epigr. 46.3 Pf.; weaken, ὀσμήν Thphr. Od. 47.

κατισχναίνω, mager machen, abzehren, erschöpfen ; ἀτμῷ κατισχναίνουσα νηδύος πυρί Aesch. Eum. 133, mit dem Hauche verzehrend ; ποιναῖς κατισχνανεῖσθαι Prom. 269 ; ὑδροποτῶν καὶ κατισχναινόμενος Plat. Rep. VIII.561c ; – ἔρωτα, schwächen, Callim. 14 (XII.150).
Bei Luc. philopatr. 20 steht ἐπιφθέγγεσθαι κατισχνημένον, mit schwacher Stimme.
