• a ship-carpenterʼs and blacksmithʼs tool, perhaps a pair of pincers or tongs, ναυπηγοῖς σ. AP 11.203 (κενδυλα cod.): also σχενδύλη, IG 2(2).1672.102, Hsch. s.v. σχενδυλόληπτοι. Hsch. also cites σχενδῡλάω (ibid.); the Dim. σκενδύλιον (q.v.) implies a form σκενδύλη which is not found.

σχένδυλα, [ῡ], ἡ, auch σχενδύλη, ein Werkzeug der Schiffszimmerleute und Schmiede, vielleicht Zange, Zwinge, Ep.adesp. 90 (XI.2031 ; χαλκευτικὸν ὄργανον, Hesych.; scheint mit ἔχω, σχεῖν zusammenzuhangen.
