- = πλώουσα, sailing or floating about, ὄρνιθες A.R. 2.1053 (EM 731.40, but πλωίδας codd.):—also πλωϊάδες νεφέλαι Thphr. ap. Plu. Aet.Gr. 2.292c; αἱ πλωάδες νῆσοι (πλοάδες codd.) floating islands in Lake Copais, Thphr. HP 4.10.2, 4.12.4.
πλωάς, άδος [ᾰδ] adj. f. qui flotte, flottant, en parl. d’oiseaux aquatiques qui nagent à la surface de l’eau, A. Rh. 2, 1054 ; en parl. des î. de la mer Égée appelées plus tard Στροφάδες, Th. H.P. 4, 10, 2 ; 4, 12, 4.
