ὑποτύπτω,

• strike or push down, κοντῷ ὑ. ἐς λίμνην push down into the lake with a pole, Hdt. 2.136; ὑποτύπτουσα . . φιάλῃ <ἐς> τοῦ χρυσοῦ τὴν θήκην dipping with a cup into . ., Id. 3.130; ὑποτύψας τούτῳ (sc. ἡμίσει ἀσκοῦ) ἀντλέει he draws it dipping with the vessel into the water, Id. 6.119; οἱ χῆνες ὑ. ὥσπερ ταῖς ἄμαις . . τοῖν ποδοῖν Ar. Av. 1145.

ὑποτύπτω, (τύπτω),
1) von unten schlagen, hinunter-, hineinschlagen, -stoßen ; κοντῷ ὑποτύψαι ἐς λίμνην, mit dem Ruder in den See hinunterstoßen, Her. 2.136 ; ὑποτύψας κηλονηΐῳ ἀντλέει, mit dem Eimer unter das Wasser stoßend schöpft er, 6.119 ; u. so ὑποτύπτουσα φιάλῃ τοῦ χρυσοῦ ἐδωρέετο 3.130, mit der Schale tief in die Kiste hinunterstoßend u. schöpfend ; vgl. Ar. Av. 1145 οἱ χῆνες ὑποτύπτοντες ὥσπερ ταῖς ἄμαις, ἐς τὰς λεκάνας ἐνέβαλλον αὐτὸν τοῖν ποδοῖν ; Sp.
