Kuppel, Kuppeldach, rundes Gebäude ; so Od. 22.442, 459, 466, ein rundes Gebäude auf dem Hofe. – In Athen hieß vorzugsweise das runde Gebäude so, in welchem die Prytanen speisten, Rotunde, Andoc. 1.45 ; Plat. Apol. 32c-d ; Paus. 1.5.1 ; VLL ; auch die Staatsschreiber aßen daselbst, Dem. 19.249. – In den Badehäusern das rundgebaute Schwitzbad, sonst Lakonicum genannt, vgl. Ath. XI.501d ; Alciphr. 1.23.
