κρατερός, (κράτος), stark, gewaltig ; so heißen bei Hom. oft die Helden von großer Leibeskraft, κρατερός περ ἐὼν καὶ χερσὶ πεποιθώς, Il. 16.624, ἄγριον αἰχμητήν, κρατερὸν μήστωρα φόβοιο, 6.97 ; auch mit dem tadelnden Nebenbegriffe des Hartherzigen, Gewalttätigen, 21.566, ἀπηνέα τε κρατερόν τε 15.202.
